Questions / Statements / Venting from the Staff of Alaboutnothing

Because we constantly clearing our mind with one thing we wish to attain and that is “Nothingness”. There comes a time we need to know answers to some of our questions.  The clearing causes us to ask other people the answers either here or when we go out and about.  So here are some questions, and some statements / opinions, and finally some of our venting.  As we always “preach”, we are here to help and connect with other humans and we will continue to connect with all the AWESOME humans we meet along our journey.

Question:

We have wondered about this for a very long time.  In Chevrolet commercials they end with the slogan “Find new roads”.  What the heck does that mean?  Find new roads?  The car only runs on a new road? We have not seen a new road in years, so do they provide a map of new roads?  What is we need to take old roads to get to the new roads do they provide assistance?  We are Chevy fans, but we are confused abut this and have moved on to looking at the Dodge Demon, which in our opinion kicks ass on any road.

Question:

Have you ever noticed when watching a golf tournament on TV when the player hits the ball someone always yells out “In the hole!”?  Are there 18 paid people who stand at each hole and yell this phrase?  If so I want one of those jobs.  Do they pay well?  Do they get bonus if on a par three a player gets a hole in one and they yelled it?  This has to be a “sweet” job if you’re a golf fan.  Do they only work when the tournament is on TV?  Do they travel around to the different places the tournaments are played?

Question:

Do you miss Anthony Bourdain as much as we do?  His shows “Part Unknown” and “No Reservations” are still on TV and Netflix and we watch them every chance we get.  Anthony / Tony, a great story teller and would get out there past the tourist places in different countries with the “folks”.  Tony showed his human side often and we respected his opinion.

Question:

We were closely watching the Weather Channel during the hurricane Florence and we noticed one of the reports pronounced “Immediately” as “ammediately”.  Yes, more than once she used the “A” instead of the “I”.  Then we noticed more than one reporter on the Weather Channel and other news channels pronouncing “immediately” with an “A”. For us to notice this is huge because we often make “typos” and usually say nothing, but we had too on this one.

Question:

Why do we drive on a different side of the road than England?  Is it our way to say “in your face” to England?  After all, they once did own us a long time ago.  They also have many “round-a-bouts” and we have recently started using “round-a-bouts”, probably because it’s been found that traffic moves faster when a “round-a-bout” is in use.

Statement:

In some of our posts talking about the Vatican and or the Catholic Church, because we have our own belief system, we did not realize the impact the recent abusing of children by priests had on devoted Catholics.  The following link is from someone who is a devout Catholic and when we read her words, we could feel her pain, and they brought tears to our eyes.  Please read and join us in praying for a healing of the Catholic Church. The site is “Beauty Beyond Bones” (<<<click on name) and we like all the articles.

Statement:

Netflix is the greatest thing since sliced bread.  We have recently started watching Netflix and the variety of programs is HUGE and we even have discovered what people mean by “binge watching”.  So far we have “binge watched” “Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee” and “Magic for Humans”.  We have several others picked out, but we continue to check out other programs, especially the travel programs.  We have partially “binge watched” various stand up comics and have discovered that Dave Chappell is not for children’s viewing.  One thing we have learned about magicians is that when they do a trick, rather than attempting to figure out how they did it, we now know the answers is “they used magic.” (Saves brain cell space)

Statement:

Continuing with Netflix we watched one of our all time favorite people, David Lettermen has a show called “My Next Guess” and the first show is David interviewing President Obama and it was great.  We have found our minds are becoming more open by watching interviews of people we only know by names in the news.  Perfect example is Jay-Z.  We only know that Jay-z is a rapper and married to Beyonce.  That’s about it.  After watching David interview Jay-z we have become huge fans, not of his rapping, but of the human side of Jay-z.  Everything he talked about was right in line with what we believed.  We were surprised and happy all at the same time.  What and awesome person and it’s great to see there are forward thinking people out there changing our world.  Namaste Jay-Z.

Statement:

Netflix is the greatest thing since sliced bread >>>>>because the programs are commercial free!  We are already in “heaven” and now this is a perk.  We thank The Universe for creating someone who created Netflix.

Statement:

Tiger wood is back !!!

PGA Golf Tour – The Open and Tiger Woods is Back

We have been following Tiger Woods since he started his professional career and now that he is back and kicking butt, we are back watching.  While he was gone we turned to NASCAR, but that proved to be boring and since Dale Jr. left and NASCAR attempted to make Austin Dillon the new young hero so we found it to be like watching WWF.  We found ourselves when watching NASCAR switching over to the TV Test Pattern for some excitement. Then one day we discovered the LPGA, yes we have seen the listing but never have stopped to watch.  So we figured it either the test pattern or ladies golf, so we went and watched the golf and to our surprise we enjoyed the playing and we are now following several players on Twitter.  Then Tiger came back and the LPGA became part time. and usually we watched repeats.

This weekend is the Open at Carnoustie Championship Course in England.  Now this becomes a challenge to watch because of the time zone difference. We want to see Tiger tee of on round 3 so we need to get up at 5:00 AM PST to see him tee off at 5:15 AM PST.  Now of course we could sleep later and watch the rerun, but we are true fans and we want to it live on TV.  The last time we got up at 5:00 AM PST was to watch the Hindenburg land in New Jersey in a different life.  Yes and it was worth getting up then and hopefully it will this time also.  Because today is Saturday part of the TV telecast will be on the Golf Channel and then later on NBC.  Early morning will be Golf Channel.

So we have a few questions about the commentators on the Golf Channel.  How come when one of the commentators says something good about a player, the other commentator always follows with something negative about the same player on camera?  Well not always, but 90% of the time.  For example:  1st Guy – You know that Happy Gilmore once played a full eighteen holes with a baseball bat and rake.  He broke the course record with a 62 score.  2nd Guy – Yes but ten years earlier he tried the same thing at the Players Tournament and they found that the rake was to long and he got disqualified.  Then something else they do is try to guess what the player that is on camera is going to do, which they are pretty good at and today, one of them guessed wrong and admitted it.  Yes!  He admitted it and we were blown away.  AT least when Tiger plays they make a point of showing his shots.

So we do have some questions about the clothing the players wear.  99% of the players wear baseball hats, but we noticed the some of tee guys wear the “bill” of the hat flat like they pulled it out of the wrapper and put on.  Then there are some that take the time to shape the “bill” so it curves almost to a half moon.  Then there are the ones in between.  Is this some kind of player identification?  Ricky Fowler is usually a flat hat.  Phil Mickelson is usually an in between, and Tiger is a full moon.  Bubba Watson wears one of those visors, so that leads to several other questions.  Maybe someone who knows about hats will respond to this post.

Then there are the people that came to watch.  Of course Tiger draws most of the people and he has a massive crowd following him.  If you look over the crowd you will see people walking and they going in several different directions.  Some are on the cart path walking is opposite directions, some are cutting across the grass away from where the camera is.  Where are all these people going?  It’s like a conveyor belt moving products around a warehouse.  It’s mostly ladies with children and very slow moving senior citizens.  The maintenance people ride around in golf carts like they are on a mission, but what kind of mission would warrant thousands of golf carts maneuvering all over kingdom come? Maybe some are security to bust those fans that take a picture or shout out “It’s in the hole” right when a player is hitting the golf ball.  This really pisses of the player and they usually turn and stare at the person who did the deed.

Now there was a surprise yesterday when they played some video of Phil Mickelson breaking the rules.  He hit a putt and it missed and was rolling down a hill.  Phil ran after the ball and hit it back before it stopped rolling. We were amazed that Phil would do this. Then they showed some other times he stretched the rules. This was like a rookie like me back when I was attempting to play golf.  It was a long time ago in a land far-far away but I wasn’t playing for millions of dollars and I was playing alone so no one knew.  My down fall was water.  When I stood on a tee getting ready to hit a ball, if there was water in front of me, I could hear it saying “Why even try to hit that ball?  You know I will soon be enjoying the pleasure of eating it!”  I kept the water well fed and then finally I lost it after hitting three balls in the water.  I they my three iron in the water and walked off the course never to play again.

So now we are checking our junk food closet to make sure we have enough chips and Gold Fish to get through Tigers next round.  Not to many stores open at 5:00 AM.

Oh we wanted to mention that Tiger was wearing a “KT Bandage” on his neck.  It looked like it went from just below his hair line down his back. The reason being that the bed he was sleeping on was hard and he did not like the pillow.  You would think that Tiger would have someone take care of moving his favorite pillow from place to place, but we guess not.  It seems that when the TV viewers saw the “TK” they went out and bought the tape.  The commentators mentioned that “TK” stock went noticeable up the day before.  “Tiger Power”

We have nothing else to report at this time except to thank all of our supporters that stop by here.  God bless you and have a safe weekend.

American Idol 2018 Hollywood Episode

Up to this episode we have been enjoying the new American Idol on ABC and we enjoyed this episode up to the last group of the night.  This is where it got ugly.  Katy Perry decided to prank the group after all four were accepted.  She said to them “You are all accepted but we only need three, so one of you needs to volunteer to go home so the other three can move on.” This was so cruel to do to these ladies that have been under great stress and struggling for hours.  Katy might be too busy slobbering over every guy contestant and flirting with others.  She even went after a guy who has a girlfriend saying “They are not engaged”.  Here is  a mega-star making a fool out of herself on national TV.  She says she meditates and does Yoga, she must not be focusing on being a nice human being and treating others like she wants to be treated.  She needs to come and read our posts about how to make yourself a better person.  Maybe this outbreak of Katy’s head-games play is what guys get when they meet her.  No wonder she is single LOL

So after a few minutes, the redhead girl volunteer to leave so her friends could move on.  Katy then told her the truth, but we think she should have apologized big time.  The redhead girl  showed us that she is the kind of friend we all should have .  Her action by itself showed that she is an awesome soul and she is welcome to be our friend anytime.

Katy Parry might consider losing some of that extra weight so she can trap a guy.  Our nickname for Katy is “Thunder-thighs” which came to be when she fell on her chunky butt on one of the audition episodes.  You would thnk she can afford a trainer, but maybe she is too cheap.  We have no idea.  We don’t usually post negative remarks but we think Katy needs to be accountable and not just get off with “Oh sorry.”  Cruelty by someone makes us “gag with a spoon” here in California.

So we will continue watching because Lionel and Luke are flat out funny and knowledgeable.  Luke going to that wedding to surprise his fans was great.  It reminded us of the video for “Sugar by Maroon Five“.

So folks, now we are cranking up for The Masters Golf Tournament with Tiger Woods being the favorite even though he has just returned to golf a short time ago.  Now this is a guy that overcame huge issues and got his life back together and we look at him with awe and inspiration.  He quit golf to get his family and health back in order and because he focused on these, he did it.  The guy loves playing golf, but knows what is important and took care of business.

We have nothing else to report except for those who wonder if we watched 60 minutes we did not, but we did read the transcript and thought it was a “yawn”.  Donald “negativity maxed out” Trump will deny everything.

The Golf Channel or The Golf Gossip Channel – Karma

So folks all your hear these days is the name “Tiger Woods” and if you watch the Golf Channel they mention his name at least 500 times during a tournament.  Not only to they mention his name, they play older videos if his achievements on the links.  Even people in other sports are talking about the Tiger Woods comeback and yes folks, he is amazing and he is back to the golf world.  (The “G” is logo is for “gossip”)

We have been Tiger Woods fans since the first time he played on the professional tour and we knew then, this young man is going to be special.

He rose to number one in the world and stayed there for years.  Of course the Golf Channel promoted him to the maximum because he brought viewers to their channel.  Tiger was the greatest thing for golf like Michael Jordan was for basketball.  Then came a day when the new broke about Tiger being involved in some not so good personal problems that cost him his marriage and he quit playing golf.  We thought the Golf Channel would stay out of his personal problems and focus on the golf player, but no, The Golf Channel became the “The Golf Gossip Channel”.  They were on Tiger’s problems like flies on a fresh dog turd.  They had reporters outside his house and were repeating every bit of gossip that came to them, both true and not true.  It was a circus and The Golf Gossip Channel made it worse as the leaders.  We think they thought no way Tiger would return so they trashed him to the maximum.

Now comes the karma, what goes around comes around and now that Tiger is back and great the “The Golf Gossip Channel” at first was timid about his comeback and we even heard a few of the commentators saying no way he will make it and be any good.  These people must not be listening because Tiger said “This is a process and I need to learn all over again how to handle the actual playing in competition, so it might take a few weeks.”.  Then Tiger showed what he was talking about.  At first he missed some fairly easy shots, but and the weeks went on he got better and better and this last weekend he had a chance to win, but like he says, the process goes on.  The crowds this week were massive and last week at Valspar they had to expand the parking and all the other stuff that goes with crowd handling.  So now the “The Golf Gossip Channel” has eliminated the “Gossip” and is once again promoting Tiger in his comeback.  Since Tiger left nobody has filled the gap that Tiger left even though The Golf Channel promoted some really great young players, none matched Tiger and shown be the crowds now coming out to see Tiger.  We of course are dancing around our chair because he is back and we k new he would come back big time.

Now to the “The Golf Channel”, we are asking “When are you going to send a written apology to Tiger Woods?”  Remember when you were the main GOSSIP news channel focused on cheap shots at every chance.  This is Karma in action.  You did not think he would come back from losing his family, several back surgeries and losing his health.  But Tiger not only overcame terrible times and has “fixed” his family, his health, and is the favorite to win “The Masters”.   You came see on his face how happy he is and humble as one can be.  So Golf Channel, “When will you publicly apologize?”

Now if there is a cable channel like ESPN or some other sports network other than the low life Golf Channel you might want to consider making a contract with Tiger to telecast only Tiger woods playing a tournament.  Get some great commentators like the guys on CBS (Not Hicks) and have several cameras only following Tiger.  Maybe a reporter interviewing Tigers fans that are all around him as he plays or promoting “The Tiger Woods Foundation” where Tiger helps kids get a great education.  I know I would be tuned in and probably most of the Tiger woods fans in the world, yes the world knows who Tiger is.

So folks why not send a few million emails to The Golf Channel asking for an apology and a few billion emails to ESPN to telecast only Tiger Woods playing golf?  They could probably raise a few billion dollars for Tigers kids and communities that are in need of funds.

We have nothing else to report except we choose to send some emails soon and will look forward to the next tournament.  Thank you all for stopping by and we send our blessing to all of you.

The Masters Tournament 2013

MASTERSHow do you know if you are a Red-Neck?  You know you are a Red-Neck if you are an official at the Master’s Golf Tournament in Augusta.

Yes folks The Master Golf Tournament is “hyped” as the best of the best in the golf world, but all it actually it’s just a bunch of Red-Necks running around trying to figure out what the heck is going on.  They obviously don’t even know that there are rules in the game of golf and that when an infraction occurs a penalty needs to handed-out within a few minutes of when the infraction occurs, not wait until the next day.  Maybe they could not find the one guy with the golf rule book?  That is no excuse for the pathetic way the two shot penalty at the 15th hole was assessed against Tiger Woods.

We has picked Tiger to win it, but after this incident, he would have to have pulled off a miracle to win it and Tiger ended up coming in tied for fourth place.  It always fun to watch Tiger play so on to the next one.

We do also congratulate Adam Scott for being the first “Aussie” to win the Master’s.  He played very well and putted great when he needed it.

As far as The Master’s Tournament itself, those officials should be ashamed of themselves the way they handled the Tiger penalty.  The folks that run the tournament get the “NOTHING” Award and will always be remembered as to how not to run a major championship unless you want to degrade it down to a minor level.

We have nothing else to add today.

tiger

It was a sweet victory today at Bay Hill where Tiger Woods won the Arnold Palmer tournament for the eighth time setting yet another record that will go down in the history books.  Tiger also moved to the #1 World ranking for the 11th time setting another record and also moves to the #1 ranking in the “Fed-X” ranks.  Next week is the Houston open, but Tiger won’t be there, however the following week is the Master and we are looking for another win.  Tiger is quickly moving toward the Sam Snead record for the most wins, and with a win at the Masters, moving ever so close to the Jack Nickolas of the most major victories.

We have nothing else to add at this time except “WTG Tiger!
