Discovery Channel Reality show “Border Live”

The promotion on this is “see whats really going on at the Mexican Border” with the migrants crossing the boarder.  It suppose to be live, but we tuned in to the first episode and it was “TAPED”.  We we watching at night and they were working is broad day light.

Now if you think they are going to show you everything, then you are as delusional as Donnie Trump.  You think you will see the Border Patrol or I.C.E. tearing children away from their parents?  Or placing the children in camps created for men and then the children dying of dehydration like the little girl a few days ago.  The Trump Administration blamed the dad, but when they were fact checked it turned out the little girl was put in a camp created for men and so far away from any help in case of an emergency, she had no chance.  Have you seen the Border Patrol shooting tear gas in to the crowds?  Of course not.  Have you seen the thousands of migrants purposely being delayed entry by the Trump Administration and put in large holding areas?  No way.  Have you seen the Border guys dragging children in to those so called “Detention Facilities”, which are actually detention camps like Hitler used on the Jews.

Join with us in boycotting this so called reality show, when it it gets to real, the editors take over, or the cameras are forced to be shut off.  If you watch this show then you agree with Trump border policy of child separation and migrants coming here fleeing death in their country.

What happened to “Give me your tired, your poor, Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free, The wretched refuse of your teeming shore. Send these, the homeless, tempest-tossed to me, I lift my lamp beside the golden door!” The Statue of Liberty-Ellis Island Foundation, Inc.

We have to assume the Discovery Channel agrees with the current border policy thats why they put this garbage on the air.  We do support the Border Patrols purpose, as it was before this “Nazi” like policy has been put in place.  We pray every day for the migrants and the children coming to a country that promises them freedom.

We have nothing else except to ask all of you out there to not only boycott this show, but to call your (Mainly GOP) Congressmen and Senators too voice your opposition.  Thanks for all our supporters and we hope the holidays bring many blessings.

“Planet Earth” the Discovery Channel Series — Review

The team at AAN all agree that the BBC series “Planet Earth” on the Discovery Channel was probably the BEST documentary done about this great planet.  We say “was” because the second series will be out in March and we need to wait and see if it’s any better than the original.  The commentator on the original series is Mike Rowe (Dirty Jobs) and the commentator on the second series will be Oprah Winfrey (‘O’).

All of us on the team have watched all the mini-episodes of the original series many times and we all have enjoyed every moment.  We especially appreciated the “special” episode they did on how the series was photographed.  “Wow!”  Great job you guys and gals.

We all are looking forward to March when the second series premiers and will be reporting on our “take” on the final product.

To Discovery Channel we say, “Bravo! Discovery Channel” on this series. We can only hope that this kind of quality product will replace some of those “dooms day”  or “what if” shows you run to fill time slots.

Nothing we can think of has been done that can match the quality of this series.

Discovery Channel -When We Left Earth – Landing the Eagle

I have not thought about when we (USA) landed a man on the moon in a very long time.  I do remember watching it on TV back in 1969 along with millions of other people.  Tonight I watched the Discovery Channel special celebrating the 40 year anniversary and it brought out what an amazing accomplishment landing a man on the moon was July 1969.

I think Discovery did a great job in the interviews and narration by Gene Krantz, the mission Director back in 1969.  He really made a point of telling what happened back then and what it took for this mission to be accomplished.  I like the fact that he locked the doors in mission control in Houston until they landed on the moon successfully.

After watching all the flights leading up to the final mission I began thinking about everything that needed to happen before the final flight.  Just think about how many people were involved and all the “hardware”: that needed work “just right” to continue on to the next mission.  Now the term “hardware” would be all the moving and electronic parts on the ground and in all the rockets and all the supporting equipment on each mission.  Then take the comments from the astronauts as to how fragile all this stuff was.  Wow, these guys were heroes. The success of the mission was one huge miracle.

What really stuck me while watching the show was the final sequence when the Lunar Module was in the process of getting ready to land one the Moon and the computer began sending errors back to Mission Control.  Granted Armstrong was doing the flying as he looked out the window, but the guys in Mission Control guys could not see that.  All they saw were computer errors and kept on saying “Go.”  Whew!  That took some guts.

After that historic mission we went back to the Moon on some other flights that included taking a Lunar Rover so the astronauts could drive around the Moons surface expanding the exploration.  What I don’t remember why we stopped going.  Expense comes to mind, but I will need to do some research as to the exact reason.

So for now I have nothing to add except to applaud The Discovery Channel on a very good special about the original Moon landing
