Meditation – Misc Stuff

Right off we want to say to the reader that anything we say here take with a grain of salt.  We are sharing our experience and if something we say doesn’t sit well with you then forget it or figure out a different way of doing something. For example, when we first started reading about meditation most of the “so-called experts” said to sit cross-legged, back straight, head tilted slightly done, hand in lap, and thumb and point finger touching.  This position made my back hurt after several minutes, or we would be concentrating on keeping a correct position that we could not focus.

“Our #1 suggestion – your meditation position is whatever position you feel comfortable in.”

I changed to sitting in a chair with my feet planted on the floor and my arms where they felt good, usually on my lap. My feet on the floor gave me grounding and if we were passing healing energy through our body we made sure to send some healing energy to mother earth through our Foot Chakra.  Mother Earth gets enough abuse by the inconsiderate anti-earth people she can use all the healing energy we can send. Most of the time we place my hands open on my upper legs so to complete a “circuit” of energy flow. These days we are usually sending energy throughout our body or to someone else who has asked for some Reiki Healing Energy.  If you’re not using energy then just get comfortable, even by laying down.  There are no rules, nothing is etched in stone.  If you wish to hang from a chandelier, then hang from the chandelier if that makes you comfortable.

The videos we post are to be used as assistance to your meditation.  We focus on the sound and choose to become one with the sound when fully focused. Which means the sound is effortlessly flowing though our body along with the energy we are sending.  If the video distracts you then don’t use it.  When we first started we focused on the flame of a candle, or a light down up in the sky, or just about anything that caught our eye.  Or just close your eyes, it’s as simple as that. Visualization is a big part of some meditations so closing your eyes helps in the beginning.

Now sitting there reading this take a deep breath, no so deep you pass out, but a fairly deep breath.  When you let the breath out feel the tension in your body flowing out with your breath.  Breath in positive energy and sit for a few seconds enjoying the release of tension.  Then take another deep breath and let go more tension. Feel it gushing out of your body and enjoy the feeling.  No one more and this time get ride of the tension in your shoulders on the out breath.  Yes, feel it leaving and taking what was left out of your body.  Sit an relax.  Nice huh?  So out breath goes the negative energy and the in breath is positive energy (we use love).  This is the basics of a mindfulness meditation process.  Normally breath and focus on the in-breath and out-breath.  When we say focus you choose to get to a point where that is all that is, your breath in and out.  We call this “being in the moment, nothing else exists.  The past and the future are illusions and this is our only reality.” We are deep in to our soul level and totally at peace with all there is.  Starting out you might not get deep in, but practice the breathing.  If during the breathing a thought come to mind.  Notice the thought, sit with it, because you know it will pass shortly as most thoughts do, and when it passes continue breathing.  If it does not pass, what we do is talk to it.  Yes we talk to the thought basically to recognize it or some might say to honor it.  Our purpose is determine why it is visiting us and just about every-time once we determine why it moves on and does not come back.

This is how we handled all the urges to smoke when we quit smoking.  The thought was an urge to smoke based on a certain event, and we basically greeted the urge and said to the urge “We usually go smoke a cigarette when you come along but today we are going to continue our breathing meditation.  You are welcome to hang around, but we will not pay any attention to you.”  After a few seconds the urge would pass and the next time the same event that triggered the urge came along we did not get the urge to smoke.   (It’s been 4 years and 10 months since our last cigarette)  See out quit smoking post for more.

This is all for today and we urge you all out there in cyber-land to practice every chance you get.  If you are driving be sure not to close your eyes, but you can still breath and when the police pull you over for swerving and have to take the DUI sobriety test, you can laugh at yourself BUT be sure to stay in the moment.

We hope all of you get something out of what we reported and we will be setting up our email soon so we can take questions or comments.  Love, Light, and Peace to all of you along with many blessings.

We have nothing else right now so “PEACE”.

Meditation – Week 2 – My Experience Continued

We had a great response to week one, and the most asked questions was “Why meditate?”  So because we can only give you our perspective and our experience, we are going to include each week a part of the history of our journey, which includes other teachings, but the common thread is meditation.

A long, long, time ago in a land far, far away was a book store named The Lighthouse located in Crown Point, Indiana. The owners name was Heather Harder and on Friday nights after hours Heather opened the store to a group of folks interested in metaphysical discussions and demonstrations.  We remember this because of two bits of advice from Heater that we alway follow to this day and they are , “#1 No matter what metaphysical path you  choose to follow, always have fun with it.” and “#2 When you start gathering information from books, people, etc. take what you feel is good for you and disregard all the other stuff”.  The Friday night meeting was where my interest in meditation began, and having the opportunity to investigate Native American Drum sessions,  Circle Healing, Inter-dimensional Travel, Reiki Healing, Astrology (A current hobby), Astral Travel, and several other forms of metaphysical practices was awesome.

From then on we collected all kinds of various types of meditations mainly from reading.  We started to practice meditation mainly for relaxation but also to grow spiritually. We used meditation to clear negative energies, and when removing the negative energy fill up with positive energy. I can’t think of a better way to get rid of “stress”, mainly because we believe the person who brings on the stress can get rid of the stress easy.

When the panic anxiety attaches started instead of embracing the opportunity to get past it, we fought it in every-way we could think of finally settling on medication. We dumped the stuff we had learned and fought it for several years and then only day “out of the blue’ we started reading a book named “Many Lives, Many Masters.” by Brian L. Weiss M.D.  Looking back from today we know this book was sent to wake us up to continue our path and it did because we started meditation again and after a few years we were completely off the medication.

To be continued…

One point we want to make is the main use of meditation is to get to a point where you mind is clear of all thoughts.  Enjoy it and choose to take this clearing to every moment of your everyday life.  Why?  Because if you are clear and something comes your way that you are looking for you will see it without all the daily noise zipping through your noggin.

This weeks meditation is great for bringing peace to your spirit

We have nothing to add except that we are praying for all the Los Vegas victims and their families.

Meditation – My Healing Experience

I have been meditating for over forty years and in the beginning it was fairly simple straightforward visualization sometimes to music or focus on an object.  Since then meditation has grown in acceptance and the availability to various types of meditation has also grown.  These days I have found that the best variety of meditation videos are on YouTube.com I subscribe to meditative Mind because their videos are unique and combine frequency, music, and color.  I believe that the frequency (Hz) is important because it gets down to the DNA Level of healing.  Before sound it more up to the person to visualize the movement of energy down to the DNA level.

Because we are a Reiki Level II Practitioner we found YouTube.com has some great Reiki Chakra clearing videos which include detail descriptions of each of the Chakra’s as the video plays.  We meditate on the chakra’s fifty percent of the time mainly because we have the experience of self-healing a five years ago when a question came up as to whether we would need Chemotherapy or not. I add two CT Scans and they saw nodules in my lungs small at first and then a little larger on the second scan. So they decided to wait three months and take another scan to decide the direction we need to go.  My doctor explained that after smoking for 50+ years this was common and that we should probably do some research on Chemo because he was leaning toward that as the result, not guaranteed, but strong possibility.  Form that day forward we did a Reiki meditation and prayed every night (3 months) until the day of the scan. I had the CT scan and the very next day my doctor called and I had to sit down to answer the call. I pick up the phone and the first this I heard was my doctor saying “You can fire me! You don’t need me anymore!”. I said “What!?” and he said “The nodules are all so small and some are gone since the last scan”.  He admitted that he was complete surprised but added that I had a 2% chance of this being the outcome.  After we finished dancing around our chair in total joy we now go for a check up every year and the results remain the same to this day.

Another instance was back in the late 80’s to the mid 90’s we had a several case of Panic Anxiety and were put on strong medication and we made up our minds that is was not going to be the norm for us and eventually we because medication free and we believe it was because we meditated every day for the last three years.

One other use of mindfulness meditation is on my post about quitting smoking. We use the meditation to get past the urges to smoke a cigarette and every time after that when the same situation came up the urge was gone.

We would strongly suggest learning Mindfulness Meditation  and we did at the Insight Meditation Center in Redwood City, CA. They teach based on Buddhism and it applies to mind, physical, and spiritual is every day use. They also have all their teachings in audio on their website at no charge.  Here is the link “Insight Meditation Center” the go to Audio Dhama.  There are some hospitals around the country that have Mindfulness Meditation courses available for a fee and Google has a free an on-line course and they actually have a Mindfulness Guru on staff (I want this job).

We feel so strongly about the importance of meditation that every Wednesday we are going to post a link to our favorite meditation.  Here is the link for this weeks choice:

We have nothing else to add at this time except that we share via “messages” the link to our fiends.

Orthostatic Hypotension in General

Medical Definition: Orthostatic Hypo-tension is defined as a decrease in systolic blood pressure of 20 mm Hg or a decrease in diastolic blood pressure of 10 mm Hg within three minutes of standing when compared with blood pressure from the sitting or supine position. is defined as a decrease in systolic blood pressure of 20 mm Hg or a decrease in diastolic blood pressure of 10 mm Hg within three minutes of standing when compared with blood pressure from the sitting or supine position. In laymen terms: Stand up from sitting position, blood pressure drops and heart beat increases causing dizziness which could lead to fainting.

When we were first diagnosed we reached a point where passing out was a weekly event, then after seeing neurologist that did the “table” test. They placed me on a table that tilted and hooked up a bunch of wires the tilted the table with the feet going down and the head be elevated. This created blood pressure and heart beat charts that concluded after a week of analysis that the patient had Orthostatic Hypo-tension. A preliminary teat was done at my primary doctor and this was done by nurse and I laid on the examine table and the nurse took my blood pressure and pulse. We waited two minutes and took the same readings which also showed high pulse and low blood pressure. Two table tests both came to same solution.

So what is the treatment for the cure?  There isn’t’ a cure but it can be managed.  Medication can take care of the dizziness but it’s not suggested because its a strong medication.  The best treatment is wearing compression stockings.

The doctor gave me the name of a medical store and the knee length stocking was $75.00!  I thought “No #$*&^% way am I paying $75.00 for stockings!” So I Googled it and low and behold just about every pharmacy in the universe carried knee length compression stocking for between $7.00 and $20.00″  They carry waist length also, but these are to warm to wear unless you work in a freezer where the temperature is below zero.

I started wearing the knee length stocking and now rarely do I get light headed and have not fainted.  I have talked to other people who say the parents have the same issue of light headed and after they get the stockings it basically goes away. When it gets hot in the house I do take them off because it gets uncomfortable in the heat, but then I get up slower and pay attention. If I get dizzy is sit back down and kick my feet back and forth to get the circulation going.

Then I found out that this is common for people who sit for long periods like office workers, pilots, truck drivers, etc. Most of the Uber drivers wear the stockings because they sit all day and they don’t get as tired.

Some of the Facebook people keep the stockings at work and put them on when the get to work. The Google folks not only put the stockings on but also have a special compression headgear they wear to keep the brain circulation going (rumor).

So for those folks out there where the older folks are having the dizzy issue try the stockings and see how great it works. If you sit all day doing your job, try it and see if you have more energy at the end of the day.

We have nothing to add at this time except to send out our prayers to all the hurricane victims.

Opera Browser Review and other AAN stuff

My long vacation is over an it’s time to report on what we have been doing and the many interesting places we have been both on-line and off. I have been screwing around with Firefox and Chrome both of which pissed me off so we read about Opera and so far we find it to be perfect for our needs.  We are on it now and so far so good.

We have been living on Twitter for several months supporting the anti-Trump folks and pushing for the #calext (California becoming its own country) proposition. We like #calexit because the point is we don’t want some moron like Trump determining our present and future.  We also have been organizing the Reiki folks world wide to send healing energy to the victims of the recent hurricanes and earthquakes. I once lived in Florida and would not go back, but the folks there have taken a beating and we care.

Recently we discovered that several dating sites contain hundreds of scammers of various types and we have names and will be doing some blogs on what we experienced and solutions. Right now if you are on a dating site and the person you are talking to lives in Ghana and they are asking you for money to get a new cell phone or some other expense then they are probably a scammer. Google “Ghana scammers” and look on YouTube you might just see something disturbing.

We are happy to say that we are still smoke free and have helped other to become the same way. Motto “Smoke cigarettes is like holding a gun to your head and pulling the trigger on a gun that shots a slow moving bullet.” You will suffer and your family will suffer right along with you.

We still watch So You Think You Can Dance, Deadliest Catch (Less), Americas Got Talent (Addicted to Heidi), Pawn Stars, every Golden State Warriors game (Eat your heart out Chicago), every Raiders game, some 49’s games (they need to win us back), The Voice (Less), X Factor, just to list a few.

We are also going to be reporting on some medical experiences that we have currently (Noting major) and have researched. We consider ourselves blessed that we did not have any issues other than shortness of breath after we quit smoking but what we found was he inherited one called Orthostatic hypotentension which has no cure but can e managed, and another called Polymyalgia Rhueumatica (PMR) and 20% of PMR patients have Temporal Arteritis and we are in the 20%.  Then for our followers who have met us here is a little tidbit that will probably make you smile. Between quitting smoking and the medications we have gained some weight after 65+ years at no higher than 150 we now weigh in at 190. At least we have leveled off here. (Hope you did not injure yourself when you fell off your chair Aaron). We must add that Stanford Hospital and The Stanford Medical Group have been beyond outstanding is every phase from the supporting staff to the amazingly talented doctors.

Of course there is more, but we have a craving for Cheeto’s and need to go find some.

We have nothing else to report except to say to everyone we hope you and your families are all well and we send you many blessings. We hold ourselves grateful having met so many great folks and knowing some very special people.

For those in cyber-space outside of any United States territory, “Have a great day of nothing also.”

We also would like to give a really special AAN shout-out to the British folks because if it wasn’t for them (way back when) we here in the U.S.A. would not have a four day weekend this year.  We are sending you guys a whole bunch of “NOTHING” that should help your economy.

Of course we wish to send our prayers out to all the US armed forces out there protecting us and not able to be here to enjoy the day.  THANK YOU!! X 1,000,000,000,000.00

We have nothing to add except be safe out there and if you have time, join us on Twitter.

Lincare – Respiratory Specialists – UPDATE on Portable Unit

lincarelogoWe just received a phone call from my sister in Sedona and she reported that the portable unit she has been waiting for a year and one half was just delivered to her house.  As soon as we heard a celebration broke out on both ends of the phone line.  We want to thank Dan for his participation in getting this feat accomplished and to all of you who stopped by to read this post.

You might think you just read the post, but by reading the post your energy was added to the energy already engaged in pursuing a resolution.

To Lincare we say, finally thank you and if you had any business sense you would promote Dan (District Manager) to VP at least.

My sister is beyond blissful.  This portable unit gives her freedom to travel around the world or just on short trips.  We wish you all out there in cyberland could hear her voice and the happiness of being free from the heavy unit she has been coping with.

We have nothing else to report at this time except to say >>> Namaste

If you have a few minutes to watch a U tube video about “Love is the New Religion” by Brian Piergrossi you might find this to be the new Spiritual Revolution:

Lincare – Respiratory Specialists – Consumer Alert

Filed under: Consumer — alaboutnothing @ 4:02 pm
Tags: , , , , , , , , ,

lincarelogoOne of the things that really “bugs” me is when a medical facility takes advantage of a patient looking to them for their help.  We have a list of issues and we are starting with this one today because even though it’s about one person’s issue, it might help others going through the same thing.

I have a sister that lives in Sedona AZ and she has a pulmonary issue that requires her being on oxygen.  A year and a half ago her doctor (Mayo Clinic PHX) put her in contact with Lincare so she could get a portable oxygen unit.  All the approvals have been done and Lincare sent a concentrator to her home for her to use while she waits for the portable unit to arrive.  They said about 6 weeks.  They said 6 weeks ONE and ONE HALF years ago.  Just today my sister talked with Dan, a District Manager and he said 6 weeks.  I asked, “Why don’t you go somewhere else?” Get this folks, when she signed up ONE and ONE HALF years ago they locked he into a 5 year contract.  This is supposed to protect her against them cancelling, but to me it looks like a really nice medical scam, which probably should be brought up to the MEDICARE folks.  If they are billing MEDICARE for the portable unit and not delivering, then the FEDS might want to talk with Dan and / or probably some higher up the corporate ladder.  (Lincare is billing MEDICARE monthly)

I told her to call a lawyer and maybe this will light a fire under their butt to get it done.  The biggest problem for my sister is the concentrator is too heavy to lug around and she will be traveling abroad soon and only the portable unit can be taken on an airplane.  She told Dan about this and he stuck with the 6 weeks anyway.

So we are reaching out to any of you out there in cyberland to take a few minutes and email the Lincare Media Department and see if they can help my sister out?

Lincare media dept email address:             < Click here for email address >

They might want a name, but how many Lincare customers live in Sedona AZ?  If there is more than one then they have a bigger problem than being reported here.

Please do mention this post if you choose.  We will be following up on this in the coming weeks or as long as it takes to get resolution.

Licacare Web Site Address:                     < Click here for Lincare web site >

Note that they have a mission statement and you might ask when they intend on living up to the mission statement?

If you are you are a lawyer that knows how to resolve this issue, please take a few minutes and post a comment with your name and phone number of email where you can be reached.

We have nothing else to report at this time except to say that the Uber Journal series will be updated later this week.

 Namaste

My Uber Journey Journal Entry – New Year 2017

Filed under: UBER Journey — alaboutnothing @ 1:35 am
Tags: , , , , , , ,

uber_logoWell folks, we saw a article that said the Uber will be giving about 15 million rides over New Years Eve and we made sure we were part of it.  It proved to be an interesting experience and we even did some research prior.  We found the between 7:00 PM and 11:00 PM we were taking party goers to the various parties through out this area.  Then we took a few hours off and started driving again at around 1:00 AM.  All of these trips were taking many happy and one fairly “woozy” passenger home from the parties.  As usual we met some awesome folks and had some great conversations.

New Years Day Revelation —  I don’t know if it was because this was the first day of a new year, but it seems that two Prius drivers broke out of the normal slow speed syndrome and decided to live on the wild side.  I was on I-280 doing about 5 MPH over the 65 MPH speed limit when a Silver Prius passed me like I was standing still.  I was stunned when I realized when had just happened.  I figured that it would never happen again, so I gave a chuckle and drove on.  Then later, I was on the Dumbarton Bridge doing the posted 55 MPH when a Blue Prius passed me doing about 65 mph.  Now we were double stunned.  We thought maybe 2017 marked the start of some secret rule that the Prius community should start speeding, but that came to and end when I had to swerve around a Prius doing 45 MPH in the 55 MPH zone.  Still an amazing start to 2017 we must say.

Google Alert – We had a passenger (Denali) today that we picked up at Facebook and it turns out that Denali just had completed an interview and was seriously looking for a new position.  We asked Denali if Google was on the list and Denali said that she was waiting for Google to get back to her, but late next week she was going to an interview down in Venice Beach.  So to GOOGLE we say “Hey! Denali is a Northern California Native and is well qualified based on my conversation I think Denali would fit nicely in the Google community.  We can’t let a So Cal company steal Northern California techie talent.”  It’s now on you Google, don’t blow this.

Driver-less Car Conversation – The driver-less car conversation goes on and now the question has arisen that if all the cars are built identical then they will all perform the same.  We thought a great test would be to take some of these vehicles to a drag strip and race them against each other.  If they are all in fact the same, then the final race result will always be a tie.

New Uber Driver Alert – Hey Nigel get it done!

We have nothing else to report at this time, but we will be posting the Google result on the Denali interview later this week.  We are in the middle of starting a Twitter movement to get Starbuck’s or any other coffee café to give San Francisco Uber drivers a discount.  (Peet’s Coffee are you listening?)
