The Great Part of Getting Old – The Senior Pass Card

Many of my friends ask me for meditations that would make them younger and there are a few, but it takes focus and belief.  Besides if God wanted you to stay young looking he/she would have knocked you off when you were young and reincarnated you for your next life.  We have said over and over that we have had an awesome life while we were young and even though our body has aged our mind is stuck at around 35 years old in our thoughts. Now sometimes this becomes and issue because our body will not do what our mind wants to like jumping over that saw horse in the backyard.  Of course we could jump over the sawhorse (Maybe), but immediately upon landing pull out my cell phone that is lodged in our butt and call 911 if we are still conscious.  So we stay in the moment and we stay focused and aware.

Not many people know that when you retire you automatically get a “Senior Pass Card”.  In case you don’t know what a Senior Pass Card is, it’s the card that you use when you go to the airport and act like you can barely move.  The airline attendant will call someone to wheel you to the gate in a wheelchair zipping through security and when you get to the gate you get on the plane first no matter what your ticket boarding group is.  Just be sure when the fight is over you don’t do cartwheels leaving the arrival gate, you must keep the “act” up until your 10 miles away from the airport.  The people leaving the airplane after you will turn you report you in a heartbeat because they had to fight for overhead luggage space and had to wait until in line for Group Z to be called to board.  We have talked with friends who forgot and when they were going on another flight they were stopped at the ticket counter.  The attendant pulled up a picture of you practically running off the last plane you were on and departing the gate.  Yes folks, they were reported and pictures were taken.  Now they had to beg for a wheelchair and their boarding pass said “After all the passengers and spare luggage was boarded, this person can crawl on board”.  They also make you wear a beanie that has an arrow pointing down and sewn on the front “Senior Pass Card Revoked”.

The Senior Pass also works at restaurants, grocery store, DMV, basically anywhere there is a line.  Just make sure you take a cane with you and then do the “act”.  The best place to use it is Disneyland where the lines are hours long and the handicapped is only a few minutes long.  Beware here!  You get caught “faking” in a Disney line and they will drag you to “It’s a Small World” and tie you behind the scenery and make you stay for six hours.  They tape your eyes open, clean your eras every two hours, and tape your mouth with duct-tape.  After six hours they rip the duct-tape off your mouth and release you to go out into the park.  If you don’t wobble like you’re delusional, they take you back for another four hours.  All reports from family members saying you are lost in the park are destroyed, but they tell the family they are looking for you.  They say to the family “Why don’t you leave your cell phone number and we will call you when we find them?”  The family usually gets a call from Disney after they get back to the hotel and are in the middle of dinner right when the entrée is served. (So you wait another hour or two depending on where you are in the will) We used Disney here, but situation applies to all adventure parks, except for “Small World”, which is replaced by a ride with a catchy tune playing.  We have to warn you again her that when you depart the ride move very slowly departing.  There have been some reported near lynching mobs when Senior Pass Card riders have sped off the ride and the riders who waited six hours saw them and shouted to the others you were faking.  It’s a dangerous game we play, but if you are good at it the perks are great.

Warning I – Never us the Senior Pass Card at your doctor or when in the hospital because they know about that ploy.

Warning II – See the guy in the picture (Not me) at upper left with thumb up?  Never do this pose when kicking in the in The Senior Pass Card act!

We have nothing else to report except to pray that some day these old typing fingers will be replaced by a sweet young secretary that will volunteer her time to help us do your posts. Hopefully “Baby Boomers” will know about what we are talking about in this post, but if we educated some readers then we have done our job.  Happy card playing you guys!

Near Death Experience (NDE)

Recently a friend of mine was telling me about a dream he had.  The dream was one of those “unworldly, spiritual-like” dreams where complete peace is the result.

After listening and thinking about how these experiences come about, I was reminded of a Near Death Experience (NDE) that I experienced many years ago.  In fact, I had forgotten about it until now and hadn’t told many people about it until now.   I was in my teens at the time and when it was all over I thought I was lucky to have survived the incident along with the other kids involved.  More details on this below.

When my friend told me about the dream I did some research and found that many others have experienced NDEs. Most of these experiences, it seems, involved people who were in traumatic situations such as major surgeries where they find themselves hovering over the table in the operating room watching the operation take place.  Some involved auto accidents where they found themselves hovering over the scene, watching themselves and the others lying about.

Mine wasn’t like any of those and here is a quick description of the circumstances leading up to my NDE, the experience itself, and the outcome.

The time was approximately 2:30 AM CST and the place was Freeman Lake in Monticello Indiana.  I had just turned nineteen and I was one of twelve passengers in an overloaded boat that flipped over early that summer morning.  I was sitting in the front seat and there was one person to my left and four others to my right with the driver at the far right.  When the boat began to flip over I could feel the rear sink down and it began to roll to the right.  The last thing I remember is feeling water on my ankles.

The next thing I remember is being in total blackness with a very small light off in the distance in front of me.  I was moving toward the light and as I moved the area around me started to lighten to gray and grow brighter as I moved forward.  I sensed a wonderful peacefulness and calm.  I can only describe it a pure bliss.  Then all of a sudden I stopped moving and voice said, “We are sending you back.  You have many things you need to complete in your lifetime before you come back here.”  I remember thinking “Please don’t send me back I want to stay!”  I then began moving backward very fast.  All of a sudden I was back in the total darkness.

Still in a peaceful state of mind I noticed that my arms were extended above me.  When I pulled them down I rose up and broke the surface of the water I was in and found myself on the side of the overturned boat where I had started.  There were people all around the boat clinging to it.  Everyone seemed to be talking loudly at once and then finally the driver of the boat was on top of the hull and he yelled “Every one shut up and let’s count off!”  We did and two people were missing.  The driver promptly dove in to the water and retrieved the two people who were still under the boat and brought them to the surface.  He placed them on the hull out of the water and then because he knew I could not swim, pulled me up on the hull.  Other boats that were in the immediate area began pulling up and taking survivors aboard and eventually back to land.

Thankfully all twelve passengers survived the accident.  We all discussed the accident afterwards and I really don’t remember thinking about the NDE until about a week later and then because I was so thankful that everyone survived, it really did not mean that much to me at the time.

As I recalled it in days to follow, it seemed that NOTHING seemed to matter as much as prior to the experience.  The peacefulness stayed with me for quite a while and everything seemed to be in perfect place…no thoughts disturbed me.  Soon, the euphoria slowly slipped away and I was back to “normal,” with everyday concerns, schedules and so on.

I must say, I didn’t know what to make of it all since these occurrences were not widely spoken of at that time, but I knew that there was work for me to do and I heeded this message throughout my life.

I’m very interested in any comments and/or experiences you’d like to pass along.

I’ll surely enjoy reading anything you have to share.  If you would like, I can post your experience(s) in a separate blog on this subject.  Let me know.

I have nothing else to report at this time and want to say thank you folks out there in cyberland for taking the time to stop by to support our site.

Sweet dreams.

Meditation 101 – The Beginning

This post is for the people who don’t or have “tried” to meditate without success.  It’s like anything else, it takes practice and dedication.

If you say you “can’t” meditate then choose to change your wording to “I choose to meditate and I choose to find the time each day to meditate”.

We strongly suggest using the Mindfulness Meditation structure of breathing in and out of your nose.

For One week, choose to meditate for five minutes each day or as many times per day as you choose.

  • Locate a quiet place and music is optional.
  • Sit in a chair or on the floor with legs crossed, hands on knees, head slightly tilted forward and back straight OR what ever is comfortable for you.
  • Eyes closed or if your eyes are open then focus on a specific point like the flame of a candle.
  • Start with three deep breaths slowly inhaling positive energy and relaxing your muscles and exhale negative energy.
  • Begin breathing though your nose focusing on each inhale and exhale.
  • If thoughts come into your mind and interrupt you, then acknowledge the thought and go right back to focusing on your breath.

(We actually say out loud to the thought “Hello thought, we know you’re here, but we are going back to our meditation.)

Then each week expand the time length if you feel comfortable that you’re progressing.  Anywhere from a minimum of 30 minutes to and hour is great without an interruption.

  • The goal is to get to three minutes or more without a thought going through your mind and you feel at peace in silence.
  • If you get to total silence then before you start, think of an intention(s) you wish to address when you get to silence. Example: I would like to know what my guardian angels name is or I would like a sign that I am on my path.  You could ask for the next lotto numbers or just about anything you want.  Play with it.
  • The whole point is to control your energy and get the negative energy out of your body and replace it with Love Energy.

The intention goes out to the Universe / God and the result could be right away or may take some time.  By meditation you get your mind clear so the when the answer to your intention you will see the answer.  There won’t be a bunch of junk filling up your head.

In our post about quit smoking there are many examples of how we used Mindfulness Meditations to get past the urge for smoking.  This was a key to complete quitting and it taught us that even throughout the day you can call on an immediate requirement without a formal meditation.

It all takes practice my friends and we are here for any questions or special requests.  Email us at alaboutnothing@gmail.com we are in the process of getting our “.com” on a host server so when the email changes we will inform you.

We started meditation mainly to get rid of stress and when we found how great it worked, we started using it to rid ourselves negative energy and become a better person.  Then we came across Reiki Healing but we just did chakra meditations on our own.  Then we started looking for a Reiki Master to get initiated in level one and two.   We talked to several because we waned to feel comfortable with who we choose.  Finally in 2004 we found a Reiki Master in Orlando Florida and she was old school.  We were initiated to Level I (One) then after three months we were initiated to Level II.  The initiation for Master was a one year wait and required total commitment to Reiki.  We did not go that far because our main goal was Level II so we could send energy long distance (Upon request) and for self healing.

So my friends, we know that you will succeed in anything you dream about and we k now that meditation will help you get to your goal.  If you are in the bay area, let us know and maybe we can create a group and meditate together.  Group meditation is strong and we have seen it in action.

Once you get to a point where you’re effectively moving energy here is something we used to play with.  When you’re driving and you at a stop light, focus on the back of the head of the person in front of you and send a thought for them to move their head to the right.  Play with what you have learned its all part of the experience..

We have nothing else to report except to thank you for stopping by and we know you will be meditating in a short time.  Many blessings and have an awesome weekend.

Namaste

Meditation – My Healing Experience

I have been meditating for over forty years and in the beginning it was fairly simple straightforward visualization sometimes to music or focus on an object.  Since then meditation has grown in acceptance and the availability to various types of meditation has also grown.  These days I have found that the best variety of meditation videos are on YouTube.com I subscribe to meditative Mind because their videos are unique and combine frequency, music, and color.  I believe that the frequency (Hz) is important because it gets down to the DNA Level of healing.  Before sound it more up to the person to visualize the movement of energy down to the DNA level.

Because we are a Reiki Level II Practitioner we found YouTube.com has some great Reiki Chakra clearing videos which include detail descriptions of each of the Chakra’s as the video plays.  We meditate on the chakra’s fifty percent of the time mainly because we have the experience of self-healing a five years ago when a question came up as to whether we would need Chemotherapy or not. I add two CT Scans and they saw nodules in my lungs small at first and then a little larger on the second scan. So they decided to wait three months and take another scan to decide the direction we need to go.  My doctor explained that after smoking for 50+ years this was common and that we should probably do some research on Chemo because he was leaning toward that as the result, not guaranteed, but strong possibility.  Form that day forward we did a Reiki meditation and prayed every night (3 months) until the day of the scan. I had the CT scan and the very next day my doctor called and I had to sit down to answer the call. I pick up the phone and the first this I heard was my doctor saying “You can fire me! You don’t need me anymore!”. I said “What!?” and he said “The nodules are all so small and some are gone since the last scan”.  He admitted that he was complete surprised but added that I had a 2% chance of this being the outcome.  After we finished dancing around our chair in total joy we now go for a check up every year and the results remain the same to this day.

Another instance was back in the late 80’s to the mid 90’s we had a several case of Panic Anxiety and were put on strong medication and we made up our minds that is was not going to be the norm for us and eventually we because medication free and we believe it was because we meditated every day for the last three years.

One other use of mindfulness meditation is on my post about quitting smoking. We use the meditation to get past the urges to smoke a cigarette and every time after that when the same situation came up the urge was gone.

We would strongly suggest learning Mindfulness Meditation  and we did at the Insight Meditation Center in Redwood City, CA. They teach based on Buddhism and it applies to mind, physical, and spiritual is every day use. They also have all their teachings in audio on their website at no charge.  Here is the link “Insight Meditation Center” the go to Audio Dhama.  There are some hospitals around the country that have Mindfulness Meditation courses available for a fee and Google has a free an on-line course and they actually have a Mindfulness Guru on staff (I want this job).

We feel so strongly about the importance of meditation that every Wednesday we are going to post a link to our favorite meditation.  Here is the link for this weeks choice:

All 7 Chakras Healing Meditation Music

We have nothing else to add at this time except that we share via “messages” the link to our fiends.

Opera Browser Review and other AAN stuff

My long vacation is over an it’s time to report on what we have been doing and the many interesting places we have been both on-line and off. I have been screwing around with Firefox and Chrome both of which pissed me off so we read about Opera and so far we find it to be perfect for our needs.  We are on it now and so far so good.

We have been living on Twitter for several months supporting the anti-Trump folks and pushing for the #calext (California becoming its own country) proposition. We like #calexit because the point is we don’t want some moron like Trump determining our present and future.  We also have been organizing the Reiki folks world wide to send healing energy to the victims of the recent hurricanes and earthquakes. I once lived in Florida and would not go back, but the folks there have taken a beating and we care.

Recently we discovered that several dating sites contain hundreds of scammers of various types and we have names and will be doing some blogs on what we experienced and solutions. Right now if you are on a dating site and the person you are talking to lives in Ghana and they are asking you for money to get a new cell phone or some other expense then they are probably a scammer. Google “Ghana scammers” and look on YouTube you might just see something disturbing.

We are happy to say that we are still smoke free and have helped other to become the same way. Motto “Smoke cigarettes is like holding a gun to your head and pulling the trigger on a gun that shots a slow moving bullet.” You will suffer and your family will suffer right along with you.

We still watch So You Think You Can Dance, Deadliest Catch (Less), Americas Got Talent (Addicted to Heidi), Pawn Stars, every Golden State Warriors game (Eat your heart out Chicago), every Raiders game, some 49’s games (they need to win us back), The Voice (Less), X Factor, just to list a few.

We are also going to be reporting on some medical experiences that we have currently (Noting major) and have researched. We consider ourselves blessed that we did not have any issues other than shortness of breath after we quit smoking but what we found was he inherited one called Orthostatic hypotentension which has no cure but can e managed, and another called Polymyalgia Rhueumatica (PMR) and 20% of PMR patients have Temporal Arteritis and we are in the 20%.  Then for our followers who have met us here is a little tidbit that will probably make you smile. Between quitting smoking and the medications we have gained some weight after 65+ years at no higher than 150 we now weigh in at 190. At least we have leveled off here. (Hope you did not injure yourself when you fell off your chair Aaron). We must add that Stanford Hospital and The Stanford Medical Group have been beyond outstanding is every phase from the supporting staff to the amazingly talented doctors.

Of course there is more, but we have a craving for Cheeto’s and need to go find some.

We have nothing else to report except to say to everyone we hope you and your families are all well and we send you many blessings. We hold ourselves grateful having met so many great folks and knowing some very special people.

A few days ago we hit the 100,000 visitor mark on this blog site.  For some sites, 100,000 is a mere drop in the ocean, but for us it’s huge and we can only thank all of you out there in cyberland that stop in from time to time and check us out.

We, unlike the commercial sites are all part timers and volunteers.  We have our volunteer judges Jojo, Andrew, Jenna, and Gabrielle to thank.  Our “go-to-guys” for P/C issues Marty (Owner of Cabana Geek Tech Services) and Aaron we send a big THANK YOU.

We must also thank our followers on Tweeter, Facebook, Email Subscribers, and WordPress, which is in our opinion by far the best personal publishing service in the universe.

Also on our “thank you” list are the folks out there who leave a comment when they stop by.  We appreciate all comments and know that it might take a few minutes to post, but each and every comment is read by our staff and added to our comment list.

We started posting in December of 2009 and in a short 2 ½ years we hit this milestone and plan to continue with our standard nothing topics and we are planning some new nothing topics in the future.  (2012 Olympics)

We have nothing else to report at this time but always remember if you are looking for nothing we hope we give you “all the nothing” you can handle.

One final comment to all of you out there in cyberland and that is to quote Dr. Spock from Star Trek, “Live long and prosper.” (We say this while doing the Vulcan Hand Salute)

You might have heard about this but if you have not, go to the Google search box and type “Do a barrel roll”. (Don’t blink).

Cool huh?

We have nothing else to report except that the first show this season of American Idol was fairly entertaining, but of course, the one judge that was highlighted was Steven Tyler.  Who will it be tonight?  Is it JLO’s turn?

Street Artist’s….newest creations — Edgar Mueller Super Artist

He spent five days, working 12 hours a day, to create the 250 square metre
image of the crevasse, which, viewed from the correct angle, appears to be 3D.
He then persuaded passers-by to complete the illusion by pretending the
gaping hole was real.

‘I wanted to play with positives and negatives to encourage people to think twice
about everything they see,’ he said.  ‘It was a very scary scene, but when people
saw it they had great fun playing on it and pretending to fall into the earth.
‘I like to think that later, when they returned home, they might reflect more on
what a frightening scenario it was and say, “Wow, that was actually pretty scary.”

Mueller, who has previously painted a giant waterfall in Canada, said he was
Inspired by the British Pavement Picasso Julian Beever, whose dramatic but
More gentle 3D street images have been featured in the Daily Mail.

This guy is amazing no matter how you look at it!

We have noting else to report except if you want to see more images of more amazing chalk art, go to “Google Images” and search for “Pavement Picasso” or “Edgar Mueller”, or “Julian Beever”.
