Susan Boyle Finale…(A Dream from 2009)

After I finished watching the finals on Britain’s Got Talent on “” and I determined that it must have been a tough decision on choosing who should win.  It had to be a popularity contest because how do you compare a group of dancers to a solo singer?  The group named “Diversity” won and based on what I saw, they must have generated more votes just based on the number of people in the group and the age spread probably generated more “younger” votes.

In my opinion Susan should have won based on talent and inspiration to live a dream.  Simon said in an interview I watched, “I don’t think Susan has a clue as to how she has affected the world.”  Piers Morgan said it best to Susan, “You came along when the world was in turmoil and looking for some inspiration and you gave the world that inspiration.”  I agree 100% with that statement.

Even now when I watch that first video of Susan singing “I Dreamed a Dream” (original link not available) I get “goose bumps” just watching and listening.  The first time I watched this video the count was 20 million, then the next time it was 36 million, and then yesterday I watched again and it was 65 million.

Have you watched this video?  Just listen to the comments in the first two minutes of the video. Pay attention to the judgments being made by facial expressions and comments of both the audience and judges.  Were you making any judgments?  If you made that judgment then at the end of the video admitted that your first judgment was completely wrong and now you were going to stop “judging a book by its cover”, then that is how she has changed the “thinking” of the world.  When someone changes another persons thinking by an action taken, that is what I call inspiring, actually I call that a miracle.  Susan took the action by following her dream and appearing on “Britain’s Got Talent”, singing beautifully, and inspiring the audience.

I can think of nothing to add at this point except to wish Susan many blessing on her journey and since I did not see every episode ask, “How far did Stavor’s Flatley” get in the competition.

Beer Belly Karma

The people who have known me my entire adult life as 6′ tall 150 lbs. 32″ waist, I was so skinny that when I had hair curled and turn sideways my x-mother-in-law gave me the nickname of “Q-Tip”.

When going out with friends we used to go out to the bars and when we saw a guy with a beer belly we used to crack jokes like “His belly is so big, he had to have a strap of Velcro surgically implanted so he could keep his pants up!”  or “He had a bar of lead implanted in his ass so he would not fall forward for the weight of that enormous belly!”. In those days of hitting the bars in the Lincoln Park section of Chicago there were plenty of beer belly dudes that provided us with hours of laughter.

Then five years ago when I quit smoking food started tasting great.  Most people think that when you  quit smoking you turn to food to replace the cigarettes, and some probably do but not me.  Every piece of food tasted like a feast the most delicious tid-bit.  After six months to celebrate quitting smoking we went to “Sundance – The Steakhouse” in Palo alto.  I all my years of looking for the finest steak, this is where it was found.  we have been here before and we thought it was awesome, but now that food was tasting great, we wanted to go back and the meal was beyond awesome.  It verged on being a orgasmic experience and when we were done I wanted to smoke, but instead I did my Mindfulness Meditation to get past the urge to smoke.  Yes folks, everything tasted better even my favorite junk foods like Gold Fish, Lays Potato Chips (Original), M&M’s, Cheeto’s, Doorito’s, and Frosted Flakes became my go to breakfast food.

The 32″ waist is now 36″. Yes the Karma kicked in and we needed a new wardrobe.  No Velcro or lead bar, but the belt is now one of those that is easily sized.  I tell my friends that I look like I am pregnant, we even got one of those maternity T-Shirts with the arrow pointing down.  Its our way of bringing smiles when walking down the street.

So to all those beer belly guys we made fun of back in the day, we apologize for the comments, and we thank you for the laughs.  There is one beer belly we still make fun of, not because of his belly, its because he is the moron running our country.  His side silhouette is hilarious.

We have nothing else to report except our dating site scam tip is “If the lady is telling you that she is on a mission with UNICEF overseas somewhere in Africa” then lock down your wallet, because she is about to ask you for food money “because she is getting sick from the food provided and needs to buy different food and because she is a volunteer she does not get paid until she gets back home”

Got it! Scam!  Oh you say, “I will send you a check.”, she says, “No, it has to be cash”, so you say “I will FedEx it to you.”,  she says, “No FedEx here, you need to do a bank transfer to my bank account”.  If you do what she says the get ready to be wiped out of your retirement, savings account, and lose your house, wife, kids, car, motorcycle, your girl friend, your mistress, your membership to the country club, and KKK, and everything you have worked for your entire life.  The good news is you can still be a Trump supporter.

Think about it, you are chatting to what you think is a little cutie telling you that you are handsome and sexy, she is sending you sexy pictures, and tells you that as soon as she gets back you will meet and the sparks will fly. In reality you are talking to a guy is a sweat shop somewhere in the world that when he asks you a sexual question and you answer he sends your response to the big screen in the room and everyone laughs at you. Is it worth it?

To all our new followers and soon to be new followers we say Namaste and we hope you get a laugh or two from our posts.  We thank you for staying with us during the good times and the not so good times, which are good times, because this is where we learn and grow. We grateful for everyone and everything in this awesome universe we are all part of.

The nothing staff wishes all says thank you!

Time for a Great Leap for Mankind – USA

The following is from a post on Facebook by a friend Steve Greenberg and I agree 1,000% with what he said:

Food For Thought #5 – I was not yet 5 years old when Martin Luther was killed, I was not yet 6 when we landed on the moon. I grew up in a world in which science and technology is cool and everyone expects to work hard to move us ALL forward. As a society it is our common goal to break down the barriers and create true equality. I grew up in a small, diverse town in which we all were aware of the older generation’s prejudices, but we didn’t share them. I remember the cold war in which we lived in the constant fear of mutual destruction. I remember unsafe cars and foods, rampant pollution, high murder rates, Vietnam and Watergate, oil embargo and crashed economy. We have made a lot of progress, but there is a long way to go. Let’s live up to Martin Luther King’ vision and get to the Promised Land- it is now within reach. Let’s follow the example of that “Great Leap for Mankind” and make Great Leaps of our own forward to where all know we should and can be. It’s right over that next hill….

We have nothing to add except to all Peace and let’s take the leap!

Saying Goodbye to the Pound Sign (#)

poundsign The Democratic “sit-in” in the Senate Chamber to protest the fact that the Republicans will not pass any gun control laws is over after 20 some hours, and we applaud the participants for stepping up and bringing this issue to the public eye.  We did a Google search using “NRA Payments to Senators” and found several links to the millions of dollars the NRA pays to Senators, mostly Republicans.

So let’s take a few minutes away from this gun control madness and say goodbye to the “Pound Sign” (#).  The symbol is not going away, but the name “Pound Sign” is now referred to as “Hash Tag”.  We did a search and we found that it began being used on Twitter, but did not find why the name changed or who changed it.  So we can only project how the name changed.  Here is what we think:

When the “#” was first used on Twitter it was called the “Pound sign” and someone decided that calling it “Pound” was not a great name so a meeting was called at Twitter to change the name and keep the symbol.  Some of the new names were “Tic-Tac-Toe Sign”, “XO Sign”, “Squares Sign”, “Group Sign”, “Twit Sign”, and so it went on attempting to come up with a new name.  The meeting went through the night and hundreds of names were suggested but noting sounded good.  So they decided to order breakfast and when one of the guys said “Corn Beef and Hash.” Everyone at the table stopped talking and all together said “Hash” and then added “Tag”.  That’s it!  “Hash Tag”!  A vote was taken and the “#” sign will now and forever will be called a “Hash Tag”.

Because we are in the software business and when we want to describe a mask on a numeric variable like a variable A with a million mask of “#,###,##0.00” and we say “Pound Sign – Comma – Pound Sign – Pound Sign – Pound Sign – Comma – Pound Sign – Pound Sign – Zero – Period – Zero – Zero “and now we need to consider saying “Hash Tag Sign – Comma – Hash Tag Sign – Hash Tag Sign  – Hash Tag Sign  – Comma – Hash Tag sign – Hash tag Sign – Zero – Period – Zero – Zero”.  We considered it for about ten seconds and decided to stay with “Pound Sign” so it will still be alive for a few more years.  If it would have been changed to “XO Sign” we probably would have converted, but “Hash Tag” no way.

We have nothing else to add right now except we need to find a hammer so we can “hash tag” (pound) a nail in the wall to hang a picture.

On your birthday,
We are thinking about how much light and sparkle
you freely dispense wherever you go,
how your sunny smile lights up any gathering.
Every birthday marks another year
of you radiating positive, happy energy,
contagious happiness
that infects all who come in contact with you.
May your next birthday find you the same–
glowing from within,
beaming bright joy on everyone you meet.
We feel blessed to know and love you.

Nothing compares to love you radiate and the dreams you inspire.

Memorial Day 2016

Today specifically and everyday we honor the fine men and women who have served, and are
serving this great country at home and abroad.  Our freedom comes from their commitment to keeping this country free and as you know, it is the home of the brave.

This post is also dedicated to Alfred, Mario, Frank, Jim, and Aaron, all members of the AAN Family that have bravely served in the United States Armed Forces.

Nothing else to add right now but a HUGE “THANK YOU” for preserving our freedom!

The 25th Annual Remote Developer Ugly Sweater Competition Final

Finally we have a winner after several recounts since Christmas Eve Day

Congratulations to Roberto who is this year’s winner and will get a 1st prize check of $7.25 (Thomas has your check). Normally he would have received a trophy, but since the trophy was an ice sculpture it melted on Christmas day. It was one of the best “CDS095” images ever made from ice and because CDS095 freezes up once in a while, the material fit the subject matter. The good news is before the melt-down a small cube was saved and placed in the refrigerator in the cafeteria. The bad news is, there was a small Christmas celebration and the cube was used to cool a drink. (Next year we need a freezer on hand just in case).

Plans are already in progress for next year and because Joe S. had the drink that used the small trophy cube, he is in charge. Voting for the trophy image will begin on January 5th.

We have nothing else to report except to wish everyone we know a Happy New Year and the same to everyone we don’t yet know.

Just too clear up any questions on the amount of the 1st prize check which is normally $10,000.00. This year’s check is a net amount with the following expenses deducted: The daily fees for renting the voting machine, which was on hand for five days of recounts, the sculpting of the trophy, and operating fee (Don’t ask) all came out to $9,992.75.

When Jeff Gordon did Test Drive #1 we wondered if it was setup, but we did not say anything. Well it seems that someone else also wondered and gave Jeff some grief about it publicly and got a free ride. Watch and enjoy. We are still laughing at this video.

Nothing else to report right now..

Toilet Tissue Issue

We were watching televison and a Cottonelle commercial came on and a haunting question came to mind.  In our quest too attain nothingness we need too clear out brain cells that contain information that is clogging our cells and this is one question that needs to be cleared up.  The question is, “What is the proper way too hang toilet paper on the spindle?”  Should it be hung with the paper coming over the top or with the paper coming out from the bottom?  We have thought long and hard about this question for many years.

We remember once “back in the day” we attempted to resolve this question by taking a roll of TP and hanging it first with the paper over the top.  With a quick pull we spun off about ten sheets.  Then we hung it with the paper coming from the bottom.  With a quick pull we spun off about fifty sheets.  We thought, “Aha!” we have finally resolved this issue, the top way saves paper.  When we told other folks (guys), they seemed to think the paper coming from the bottom was the correct way.  So the question lingered on.

Now we have to admit that being male is a disadvantage right off.  We say this because women probably use about a thousand times (pure guess) as much toilet paper as men and they would probably know which way is correct.  So we asked five guys and five girls what their preference is and too our surprise the consensus the majority came out to “under”.  The main reason being that it is easier to find the first sheet.

So we decided to take this out too the folks out there in cyber-land.  We are including a poll at the bottom and we would appreciate your participation in filling out the questions so we can finally resolve this issue.  Just three simple questions, “Male or Female”, “Age”, and “Over or Under”.  We ask “age” because there may be a generation difference and we would like to know that also.

So with nothing else to add we say too you ahead of time, “Thank you for your vote.”
