So You Think You Can Dance Summer Season 7 – L.A. and Chicago Auditions

This was the second episode of summer Season 7.

The main judges this year are Nigel Lithgoe, Mia Michaels, and Adam Shankman.  During the auditions some of the judges may be absent, but a guest judge will replace the missing judge.

Hosted by Cat Deeley and sitting in for Mia in L.A. is Hi Hat.

Highlights:

L.A. Day 1

Lauren Froderman – Contemporary
YES

“Hella Hung” – His own creation.
NO

Rachel Girma – Contemporary (Trained in gymnastics)
We agree with Nigel when he said, “WOW!”  Incredible moves.  (One to watch.)
YES

Christina Santana & Pepe Alverez – Ballroom Salsa (Last season she went to Vegas)
Christina YES
Pepe Yes to the choreography round…NO to Vegas (Dropped out)

Taylor Costello – Contemporary
Yes to the choreography round…NO to Vegas

In total thirteen other dancers did move on to “Vegas” after day 2.

L.A. Day 2:

Alexi Agdeppa – Contemporary (Went to Vegas last year)
Alexi has grown since last year and is even better this year.
YES

Melinda Sullivan– Tap Dancer
Melinda danced (Tap) to a ballad and got our interest because we had never seen that before.
Yes to the choreography round…YES to Vegas

Ryan Ramize – Contemporary (Discovered by Mia Michaels)
The judges all agreed that her technical moves were awesome, but needs more connection.
Yes to the choreography round…YES to Vegas

Several other dancers also moved on to “Vegas” after day 2.

Chicago Day 1:

The judges were Nigel, Adam, and guest judge Stacey.

Kent Boyd – Contemporary (A small town from Ohio)
Our first “WOW” in Chicago for Kent’s dancing.
Yes to the choreography round…YES to Vegas (Yeah from the AAN Team)

Andrew Phillips – Contemporary (Has a handicapped twin brother who he is dancing for.)
We agree with Adam in saying, “You are still growing and you inspired me.”
Yes to the choreography round…YES to Vegas (Yeah from the AAN Team)

Melinda Jacobson – Hic-Hop (Her own creation a mixture of Hip-Hop and Line Dancing)
NO

Adrian Lee – Contemporary
We agree with Stacy and Nigel in saying “That was the best of today.”
YES

Several other dancers also moved on to Vegas after day 1.

Chicago Day 2:

Kellan Brochers – Free Style
NO

Christopher Gilbert – Hip-Hop
A very entertaining routine and we wanted more.  Christopher came out with a cane and showed a great sense of humor dancing the routine.
Yes to the choreography round…NO to Vegas

Jarrod Mayo – Contemporary
We agree with Nigel in saying, “You are amazing.”  Adam said, “You are so talented and it was a pleasure to watch you dance.”
YES

Jarrell Robinson – Contemporary / Hip-Hop (Jarrell is deaf and has a great story)
Jarrell said “I feel the music.”  Awesome!
Adam said, “You are an incredibly inspiring man and you interpreted the music perfectly.”
NO by the judges, but we were all inspired by Jarrell.  We found Jarrell to be a very peaceful spirit.

Several other dancers also moved on to Vegas after day 2.

We have nothing else to add except that tomorrow night is the Dallas and Nashville Auditions.
