The Judges tonight were Simon, Kara, Randy, and Ellen.

The contestants will sing three songs, one chosen by the executive producer Simon Fuller, one by the contestant, and then both contestants will sing the song that the winner of Season 9 will record as a single.

Here are the top 2 contestants in order of performance:

Song chosen by a contestant…

1] Lee Dewyze – Song: “The Boxer”
Once again great job and we think he did a better job this time than the last time he sang it.  There was a very good connection and excellent arrangement.

2] Crystal Bowesox – Song: “Me and Bobby Mcgee”
As always, Crystal’s vocals “blew” us away.  Great song choice and she absolutely “nailed” the performance.  It was all there, vocals, arrangement, and the important connection with the audience.

AAN’s choice for Round one goes to Crystal.

Song chosen by the Executive Producer Simon Fuller…

1] Lee Dewyze – Song: “Everybody Hurts”
We don’t think this was a very good song choice or Simon put out a song that would challenge Lee and Lee did a fairly good job with it, but we think it was a little, as Randy would say, “Pitchy”.  Lee seemed into the song, but it was not memorable at all.

2] Crystal Bowesox – Song: “Black Velvet”
A little slow in the beginning, but once Crystal got going, she once again “nailed” the performance.  She is really showing off her vocals tonight.  At a scale of one to ten Crystal’s vocals are a twenty.

AAN’s choice for round two goes to Crystal.

The song that will be recorded by the winner of Season 9….

5] Lee Dewyze – Song: “Beautiful Day”
Strange song choice, but we can only ask one question, “Would we buy this song if Lee recorded it or would we let it play on the radio without changing channels?”  Our answer is “No.”

6] Crystal Bowersox – Song: “Up to the mountain”
The same question we ask ourselves, “Would we buy this song if Crystal recorded it or would we let it play on the radio without changing channels?”  Our answer is, “We would kick up the radio and enjoy each note.” This performance was a “moment” for us. That was a beautiful performance.

AAN’s choice for round three goes to Crystal.

We have nothing else to report except that to remind you that tomorrow night is the final show and the winner of Season 9 will be chosen.  So get on the phone and vote for your favorite.

A little know fact on Season 9’s two finalists.  The Chicago Audition only produced thirteen Gold Tickets to Vegas.  This was the lowest of all the cities where auditions were held.  The amazing thing about this is both Lee and Crystal were among the thirteen chosen at the Chicago Audition!  What are the odds of that ever happening again?

Another AAN interesting fact is that both Lee and Crystal’s last names cause our version of Word to display the squiggly red line under each last name.  (Nothing surprises us anymore.)

AAN‘s Best of Night!

  1. I agree that Crystal is the better of the two…always has been. She should win, but then it won’t matter. They both win in the end. Same as last year. I still think what’s her name “shobahn” is the best of all. And Casey will probably do some music stuff too. Will see.
    Nice report on the show.
