The Judges tonight were Simon, Kara, Randy, and Ellen.

It’s the Top 9 again this week because Michael was “saved” last week.  This week, two contestants will be leaving the show after the voting.

The mentor this week is Adam Lambert from last season.  Adam was our absolute favorite last season and he came in second behind, what’s his name? Chris.  This is the first time a past contestant came back to be a mentor and because Elvis was a great showman, Adam is the perfect choice. ( We always thought that Adam looks like Elvis.)

The music theme tonight is songs done by Elvis.  (A second name is not required.)

Here are the top 10 contestants in order of performance:

1] Crystal Bowesox — Song: “Saved”
Once again, another great performance by Crystal playing an electric guitar.. Her vocals were right on and she made the song her own with the arrangement.

2] Andrew Garcia – Song: “You ain’t nothing but a Hound Dog.”
It was an interesting arrangement, which we liked.  Andrew’s vocals are improving each week and tonight he was very good.  The only judge who also liked Andrew was Ellen, the other judges thought it was boring or did not get it.  We also liked the parachute hanging on the left side of his jacket over the breast pocket where usually there is a handkerchief.

3] “Teflon” Tim Urban – Song: ”I can’t help falling in love.”
Sitting on a stool playing an acoustic guitar Tim did a really good job.  We were surprised how good he did.  Great arrangement and the vocals were very, very, good.  We agree with Kara that it was the best “Tim” performance ever.

4] Lee Dewyze – Song: “A little less conversation”
Lee made the song his own with great vocals and the arrangement.  His energy was up and he followed Adam’s advice and gave a performance.

5] Aaron Kelly – Song: “Blue Swede shoes”
The vocals were good, but the performance was too karaoke.  Aaron did not make the song his own until the end when he sang more blues style.

6] Siobhan Magnus – Song: “Suspicious minds”
As usual we always look forward to Siobhan’s performance and this week she one again “nailed” the song.  Great vocals and she showed her originality.  As Siobhan said after her performance, “I don’t want to be ‘labeled’ because I just don’t do one kind of style.”  This came after the judges said they were confused on who she is as an artist.  To the judges we say, “Duh!  She is an original.”  (The judges keep saying be different to all the contestants.)

7] Michael Lynche – Song: “In the ghetto”
This was a very good song choice for Michael.  Michael was right on with the vocals.  We with agree with Simon that it was a million times better than last week.

8] Katie Stevens – Song: “Baby what do you want me to do?”
Her vocals were good, but we think the performance was so-so.  Not memorable at all.

9] Casey James
We thought this week should be right in Casey’s comfort zone.  The vocals were there and very good.  The performance was not memorable other than his guitar playing.  We agree with Simon that this week could have been a great week, but fell short.

AAN‘s Best Performance of Week

Great Job!

A few weeks ago we thought Usher was a very good mentor and this week we have to commend Adam in being right up there with Usher in the advice he gave to each contestant.  We thought he was right on and the contestants seemed to follow his advice, which made each performance that much better.

We have nothing else to report except that to remind you that tomorrow night is the results night.  Remember, two contestants will be leaving so VOTE!
