The show tonight was fast paced with many quick previews of the dancing.  The format this year is for the contestants to dance various styles through each segment of each day.  At the end of tonight show only 77 dancers were left to continue on too next weeks show and the final count down to the top 20.

Tonight’s judges were Nigel, Mary, TY, Adam, Debbie, and Mia and they were busy.

Here are some of tonight’s highlights:

Nathan opened the show tonight.  Interesting enough is that Nathan auditioned last year and “wowed” the judges, but he was only seventeen and could not go on to “Vegas”.  Nigel was so impressed that he gave Nathan a ticket to “Vegas” for next year.  Now the only question was is he still good enough to compete this year?  The answer after he completed his routine this year is “YES”.  I agree!

Jacob and Williem, the male couple danced and Jacob was cut from this year.

Teddy, the Travis Wall look-a-like initially made it through to the next level, but at the end of the night was cut.  He did say he would continue to improve and be back next year.

Ryan, Evan’s brother, barely managed to get through the first round Hip-Hop and ended up being cut on day three.  Last year it was down to him and his brother completing for the 20th position of the Top 20.  Evan was picked and made it to third place in season 5. ( This was a surprise to me.)

Day two found 90 dancers remaining.  The first injury was Billy who took an elbow to the node and was not allowed to rehearse the “Cha-Cha” routine until his nose stopped bleeding.  He missed all the practice session, but his partner helped his between sessions.  When they danced with their group they all made it through to the next session.

There were two “Dance for your life” contestants tonight.  They were John (Contemporary) and “Legacy” (B-Boy).  John danced well, but the judges all said he did not have any emotion at all.  Their decision was “NO”.  “Legacy” did his specialty (Hip-Hop) and was awesome.  All judges agreed that it was an awesome routine, but he was warned by Nigel that he needs to “step it up” on the other styles.  The decision was “YES”.

My Highlight of tonight’s show was Russell and Iveta dancing as a couple to a “Cha-Cha” routine.  Russell is the first “Crump” Style dancer to make it this far and was very nervous during practice for this routine.  Iveta, however is a world champion ballroom dancer and did some pretty fine coaching of Russell.  After they performed for the judge’s Nigel said, “Excellent!”  Adam said, “That was unbelievable!  Very Good!”.  I agree and applaud their performance.

 Final notes:
It looks like the bar has been raised this year and the dancers are really being pushed to their highest levels.  I wish each and everyone the best of luck.  To the dancers that were “cut” so far this year I say. “Let nothing stand in your way as you continue your journey to complete your dream”.

I have nothing else to report tonight except don’t forget the “Dizzy Feet Foundation” for kids.  Click here for more information.
