Gaba’s pet fish passed on today…

Filed under: Gaba Insight — alaboutnothing @ 5:45 am

I woke up to find that Gaba’s fist had passed on.  She had named the fish “Pet” and we had it for about 2 years.  I moved the fish tank to an upper shelf in the kitchen so she could not see it.  Gaba’s mom, grandma, and I discussed how to tell her the news.  Of course we projected that she might take it badly, but finally decided to tell her.  So grandma told Gaba “Pet was sick and we needed to get a new one.”  Gaba said “Ok, can I get a red one this time?”  That’s it, no big deal.

My sister happened to be visiting from Sedona and we were taking her to see Gaba’s favorite bookstore.  Gaba calls the bookstore “The Buddha Store” and a block down the street is a pet shop so it worked out just fine.  (The “Buddha Store” is actually “The East / West Bookstore”).  So we went to the bookstore and then to the pet shop and let Gaba pick out a new pet fish, which she promptly named “Petty” and it’s red.  She also picked out a new fish tank and some accessories.  When we returned home Gabba and her mom step up the new tank and got Petty situated.  Nothing else was said and everything returned to normal.
