Once again the American Music Award Show (Sunday Night) was enjoyable to watch and to our surprise, we became a fan of Justin Bieber. Granted there were other folks on this show that we have always been fans of but the only time we had reported on Justin was when he made an appearance on American Idol. Of course we have heard his name mentioned on other shows, but it was mostly parents saying that their daughters were huge fans of his. Until last night we looked at Justin as a new young singer with a huge teeny bopper following.
Justin caught our attention when he won the first award and when he began his acceptance speech, he seemed so humble. He gave credit to Usher as being his mentor, thanked God and his parents for sticking with his career. We could see this was not just some hyped up young man sailing on his huge success.
Then when Justin won the Artist of the Year award and actually called Usher to the stage to publicly show his admiration for what Usher had done for him, we became a fan instantly. (Justin is the youngest winner of this award in the history of the AMA (16 years old)). Justin might only be 16 years old, but he handled himself last night with more maturity than several so called super stars we have seem over the years.
We have nothing else to report except we will now be following this young mans career with greater attention.
Congratulations to Jimmy Johnson and the entire Lowe’s NASCAR Team for a 5th straight championship. This is an amazing achievement in this sport or any sport for that matter. Five straight championships in a highly completive sport like NASCAR is something that will not be done again for a very long time. The 1st four were fairly easy for Jimmy, but this year was a struggle, admitted Jimmy is the post race interview. Jimmy said and we agree, “This was a total team effort and they never gave up.”
Today’s race was in Homestead FL and Jimmy started the race behind Denny Hamlin in the championship points, but Denny had some problems early in the race. Jimmy ended the race in second place behind Karl Edwards but with enough points to win the championship.
We have nothing else to report except to also congratulate Karl Edwards in winning the last two NASCAR races this season. We really like that Karl “Flip” when he wins a race and it’s sure nice to see a driver go up in the crowd to share a victory.
